Malachi 2:7 

“For the lips of a priest ought to preserve knowledge, because he is the messenger of the LORD Almighty and people seek instruction from his mouth.

But more recently, our leaders have started to disobey, with teachings that have caused many to do wrong, and to seek worldly attributes as opposed to righteousness and a relationship with God.

Nevertheless, we are not righteous or saved by our pastors, preachers or priests. BUT, we are to work at our own salvation with fear and trembling- Phillipans 2:12

And as 2Timothy 2:15 says, Study the word of God to show yourself approved.

Check what you hear outside with the word of God.
